Niagara Falls, ON – On Tuesday, the team at Project SHARE celebrated a $137,600 Resilient Communities Fund grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). This provincial investment is being used to grow and strengthen Project SHARE’s volunteer program, ensuring that the organization can continue to meet the rising demand for essential services in the community.

“The work Project SHARE does for families in our community is so important, especially as we know, we have real issues regarding food insecurity and housing affordability”, said Wayne Gates, MPP for Niagara Falls. “My office works closely with the team at Project SHARE to help connect constituents with resources, and I can’t say enough how about important the work they do is. In fact, I can’t think of a more deserving agency than Project SHARE. I want to congratulate their organization on receiving this grant, and I want to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for another crucial investment into the community here in Niagara.”

Thanks to the grant, Project SHARE was able to hire a full-time Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and support new volunteers. Additionally, the organization is implementing new volunteer management software, updating training materials, and organizing appreciation events to build a more resilient and engaged volunteer base.

“This grant has allowed us to invest deeply in our volunteers—the heart of our organization,” said AJ Heafey, Interim Executive Director at Project SHARE. “With better tools, training, and recognition in place, we’re not only rebuilding after the pandemic, but also preparing to serve our community even more effectively for years to come.”

Project SHARE provides emergency support services to over 130 families daily in Niagara Falls, including access to food, housing support, and seasonal programs. The organization’s mission is to address the short-term needs of individuals living below the poverty line while working toward long-term solutions.
